I believe we are constantly faced with challenges & opportunities throughout life, to either optimize our environment or succumb to defeat. It's up to us to see what we want, use fear and doubt as our strength and proceed with discipline…... One of my favorite quotes and mottos to live by daily is: "Do something that sucks everyday in constant pursuit of one's capabilities!!"

 

It wasn’t until I was 39 and 5 children later, that I would really get serious about my health & overall wellness. I hit the emotional equivalent to "rock bottom" after being faced with empty nest syndrome. Suddenly many much of the childhood trauma that I had endured, was no longer able to hide behind dance classes and sleepovers. I was suddenly in a position where my life was literally in the balance and everything that I thought I knew about myself was suddenly in question. Confidence was gone, my ability to see past another day was near impossible and I had zero interest in struggling on. While laying on the kitchen floor, about to end my life - everything and I mean everything changed. Initially, It was a mental/ emotional change, seeking refuge from the symptoms of CPTSD. Traditional methods of recovery didn't work for me and I needed something more. It then became a more physical challenge I craved and eventually competed for the first time as a figure competitor at 40. I learned all the good (and bad) things bodybuilding, nutrition, body fat, “peek week” and the slow process of building muscle as a Vegan athlete. Although I didn't stay in the competitive circuit, I learned valuable lessons that only fed my coaching skills.
